Changing Power, President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Justice Jane Francis Abodo as the new Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to replace Justice Mike Chibita.
Jane Abodo who has previously worked at the Directorate of Public Prosecution was the High Court judge at the Criminal division of the High Court by the time of her appointment as DPP.
Dr. Michael Ating-Ego is one of those who will appear before Parliament’s Appointment’s Committee for approval as Deputy Governor. Dr. Ating-Ego was nominated last week by President Museveni to replace former deputy Governor, Louis Kasekende whose contract expired in January.
Museveni also constituted the leadership code tribunal and nominated Ms. Irene Karugonjo Seggawa as the Chairperson, former State Minister of Works and Bugabula South legislator Asuman Kiyingi as Deputy Chairperson, Jane Okelowange, Diddas Bakunzi Mufasha and Joyce Nalunga Birimumaaso as members.
Other names sent to Parliament include Dr. Johnson Byabasaija and Mr. James Mwanje for renewal of their contracts as Commissioner General of Prisons and Deputy Commissioner General respectively.
All the nominees will appear before the Appointments committee on Monday, April 6, starting at 10 am.
