The daughter of the late city tycoon Bulayimu Muwanga Kibirige (BMK), Sheila Muwanga has come out accusing powerful businessmen Godfrey Kirumira, Andrew Mwenda who she call a Mafia and many others of joining forces with her step brother Haruna to steal her father’s estate.
Through a series of emotional videos making rounds on social media, Sheila Muwanga laid bare what she describes as a disturbing betrayal from a man her father once called a brother.
“This man, who once called my father a brother, is now working tirelessly to take what belonged to him,” Sheilah said. “The people you trust as friends might be the very ones waiting for you to die so they can take your possessions.”
Sheilah accuses Kirumira—chairman of the Kwagalana Group, a network of wealthy businessmen of which BMK was a member—of refusing to release funds owed to the BMK family, in violation of their group’s memorandum of understanding. She claims he is now actively working with banks to seize BMK’s properties and bank accounts.
Tension Over Buziga Property
The storm intensified over a family property located at Plot 46, Mulamula Road in Buziga, which Sheila says has become a center of violent confrontation and legal chaos.
According to her, BMK’s heir Ali Muwanga narrowly escaped arrest when he visited the property last weekend. His security guards, however, were allegedly beaten and detained after he left briefly to purchase a new padlock.
“He found their part of the property locked. He broke the padlock and left to buy another, only for his guards to be arrested and assaulted while he was away,” Sheilah revealed.
The Buziga property reportedly got entangled in controversy after another BMK son, Haruna Kalule Muwanga, allegedly used forged land titles to secure a large loan from Yako Bank. When Kalule failed to repay and fled the country, the bank allegedly sold the debt to Kirumira, triggering the current standoff.
Sheilah says the family has been living in fear, following what she describes as a “targeted attempt” to intimidate and isolate them from their father’s legacy.
While she admits negotiations took place last week to divide the Buziga property—granting one part to BMK’s family and the other to Kirumira—she claims that Kirumira reneged on the agreement.
“They’re locking us out, harassing our people, and pretending like we don’t exist,” she lamented.
The family maintains that Kalule alone should be held responsible for the fraudulent loan and that the rest of BMK’s children and assets should not suffer for his actions.
