In a heartfelt farewell, the late political analyst Joseph Tamale Mirundi was laid to rest on August 18, 2024, in his hometown of Kalagala Village, Kaliisizo in Rakai District. Mirundi, passed away on August 13, 2024, after battling lung complications for a month.
As news of his passing spread, vigils were held in his honor, culminating in a final gathering at his residence in Kalagala.
The event was a blend of emotions, as family, friends, and well-wishers paid their respects to a man who was never afraid to speak his mind.
In true Mirundi fashion, the political firebrand had left behind some rather unconventional funeral requests. He expressed a strong preference against a church requiem mass and even requested to be buried in an upright position in a 15-foot-deep grave.
However, his family, perhaps with a touch of humor, opted to sidestep these unusual wishes, citing cultural norms and traditions as the guiding principles for his final send-off.
The burial ceremony began at 10:00 AM with a prayer mass, as loved ones gathered to say their final goodbyes. The event was attended by several dignitaries from various backgrounds, all coming together to honor a man who, in life, was a force to be reckoned with.
