Former MP and Miss Uganda, Cecilia Barbra Atim Ogwal Cause of Death in India is Shocking

The Speaker of Parliament, Ms Anita Among, has sadly confirmed the passing of Cecilia Ogwal, the Women’s Constituency Member of Parliament for Dokolo District and a former Miss Uganda 1969, her cause of death and last days in India have shocked many.

According to reliable sources, the 77-year-old Ogwal breathed her last in a hospital in India, succumbing to a battle against cancer that she fought with resilience and grace for months.

Ms. Among expressed her condolences, saying, "It is with a heavy heart and pain that I announce the passing of our Mother, Mentor, and role model, Imat Cecilia Atim Ogwal, the Honourable Member representing the Women of Dokolo District. I send my sincere sympathies to her dear husband and the family, friends, the people of Lango, and colleagues! May her soul find eternal rest."

Cecilia Ogwal's journey was one marked not only by political achievements but also by her earlier triumphs.

At the youthful age of 23, she clinched the title of the first Miss Uganda in 1969 at the Apollo Milton Hotel (now the Sheraton). Her legacy extends beyond beauty pageants, as she later became a prominent figure in Ugandan politics, leaving an indelible mark on the nation.

As the nation mourns the loss of this remarkable woman, her contributions to both the world of beauty and politics will be remembered fondly.
