Venetia Sebudandi, a Rwandese Ambassador who representative the country in the United Nations Office of Geneva and one of the wives of Buganda King Ronald Edward Frederick Kimera Muwenda Mutebi II, has sadly passed away after fighting for her life at King Faisal Hospital in Kigali.
According to reliable sources confirm that Ms. Sebudandi breathed her last two days ago in the vibrant capital of Rwanda, Kigali.
The late Venetia Sebudandi, revered as the mother of Prince Jjunju “Kiweewa” Suuna, held a notable diplomatic career. Prior to her recent passing, she served as the Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the United Nations Office in Geneva, leaving an indelible mark on the international stage.
Her journey in diplomacy commenced in 1996 when she assumed the role of Chief of Protocol and Director of State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Rwanda, a position she held until 2001.
Following this, Ms. Sebudandi took on the responsibilities of Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Rwanda in Paris, overseeing multilateral organizations such as UNESCO and the Francophonie.
Before her diplomatic endeavors, she made significant contributions in Uganda and Kenya within the private sector, showcasing her versatility and dedication to service.
Ms. Sebudandi's academic pursuits were equally impressive, holding a Master's in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster in the United Kingdom, a Diploma in Education from Makerere University in Kampala, and an Advanced Language Diploma from the University of Clermont Ferrand in France.
Born on October 29, 1954, in Gahini, Rwanda, Ms. Sebudandi's demise marks a profound loss for both her family and the diplomatic community.
