Congregants of Phaneroo Ministries International, a prominent Ugandan church lead by Apostle Grace Lubega on Sunday, July 30th held a 3 hours and 20 minutes’ long hand-clapping session which they expect to be confirmed as the longest applause by Guinness World Records.

The non-stop hand-clapping session took place at the church’s headquarters in Kampala, though branches of the church in other places also participated as it was called “Clap for Jesus,” the activity attracted the participation of large numbers of people, estimated to be in thousands.

The current record for the longest applause is held by Stevens Clark, who accomplished the feat during the Festival of Awesomeness in the UK on July 20, 2019. Clark's record stands at an impressive two hours and five minutes of continuous applause.

Phaneroo Ministries International will be waiting for Guinness World Records’ decision on whether their hand-clapping session will become the new world record.

It can take up to 12 weeks for Guinness World Records to review the documentation and decide whether it has been accepted as the new record or rejected.

Grace Lubega, the lead pastor of the church said the aim of the attempt to break the record was to give glory to God.

Phaneroo Ministries International applied to the Guinness World Records organization and ensured compliance with all the guidelines set forth by the organization in Uganda.
