Bishop Stuart University (BSU) students in Mbarara City enjoyed a lively mix of music, football and interactive games on Saturday as Coca-Cola brought its Premier League Experience to the university’s Freshers’ Ball.
The activation, organised under the brand’s “Essawa Yonna Kisoboka” campus campaign, gave students an opportunity to socialise, enjoy live entertainment and participate in activities outside their academic routines.
Singer Kapeke performed at the event, while DJs and MCs Belga and Kacheche kept students entertained. The programme also featured live English Premier League matchday screenings, games, chilled Coca-Cola drinks and giveaways, including branded T-shirts and other merchandise.
The activities drew enthusiastic participation from students, particularly first-years who are beginning their university experience and building new friendships.
Crystal Elizabeth, a first-year Bachelor of Journalism and Media Studies student, said the event offered a welcome break from her studies.
“The music and games, including Matatu and Scrabble, helped me relax and refresh my mind. It was a wonderful experience that gave me a chance to enjoy myself outside the classroom,” Elizabeth said.

Her fellow first-year student Joel Nuwarinda, who is also pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism and Media Studies, praised Coca-Cola for bringing the activities to campus.
“I appreciate Coca-Cola for bringing this exciting experience to BSU. It has given us an opportunity to enjoy ourselves, interact with other students and create good memories as we begin our university journey,” Nuwarinda said.
Oris Niwamanya, a first-year Bachelor of Education Primary student, said the activities helped strengthen friendships among students.
“The experience gave me an opportunity to connect with my friends and enjoy different activities together. The music and games made the event memorable, and I will cherish the moments we shared,” Niwamanya said.
Aaron Ariho, a first-year Bachelor of Education Secondary student, commended the university administration for facilitating the experience.
He said the entertainment and games gave students an opportunity to interact and develop friendships beyond the classroom.
For Mark Niwagaba, a first-year Bachelor of Journalism and Media Studies student, winning Coca-Cola merchandise was among the highlights of the event.

“I was happy to win goodies such as Coca-Cola drinks and T-shirts. Beyond the prizes, the event gave me an opportunity to socialise with my fellow students and enjoy the entertainment,” Niwagaba said.
Immaculate Amutuhaire, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Procurement and Supply Chain Management, also praised the performances, saying Kapeke and the MCs helped make the occasion enjoyable.
The event formed part of Coca-Cola’s broader campus engagement campaign, which uses music, sports and interactive activities to connect with university students.
At BSU, the Premier League Experience added another dimension to the Freshers’ Ball, combining football and entertainment with opportunities for students to meet, socialise and create memories as they settle into university life.
