Coca-Cola Uganda has launched a four-month content creation challenge giving football fans across the country an opportunity to turn their English Premier League (EPL) matchday experiences into original social media content and compete for cash rewards.

The challenge was launched on August 26, 2026, shortly after Coca-Cola’s two-day EPL Watch Party at Millennium Park in Kampala on August 21 and 22, where fans gathered for live football, music and entertainment.

Under the campaign, participants are required to purchase a Coca-Cola, scan the QR code on the pack and create original content around their matchday experience. The content should feature their football viewing experience, a meal and Coca-Cola before being posted on Instagram or TikTok using the campaign hashtag and tagging Coca-Cola Uganda.

Participants compete on a national leaderboard, with monthly cash rewards based on validated views. The rewards range from UGX 50,000 to UGX 1 million, in addition to Coca-Cola merchandise and campaign experiences.

Barry Otieno, Senior Marketing Manager for Coca-Cola in Uganda, said the initiative is designed around the way Ugandan football fans already experience Premier League matches.

“This campaign celebrates what Ugandan fans already do every matchday and rewards them for telling that story in their own way,” Otieno said.

Turning Passion Into Opportunity

For young creators taking part, the challenge offers more than the possibility of winning money.

Lynn described it as an opportunity for young football fans to turn their passion for football and social media into income and greater visibility.

Edgar Dylan, a student at Kampala International University (KIU), said he was motivated by several factors, including developing his creativity, gaining experience working with a major brand and the possibility of earning money.

He also highlighted teamwork as one of the lessons he has gained through the experience.

Since the competition runs for four months and allows multiple entries, participants have repeated opportunities to compete. Views are reset each month, giving creators a fresh opportunity to build their rankings and compete for the monthly rewards.

Why Validated Views Matter

The competition also places emphasis on the authenticity of engagement.

According to Coca-Cola Uganda, entries are moderated and leaderboard positions are based on validated views. The validation process is intended to identify artificially inflated views, duplicated or stolen content and fraudulent engagement.

Participants are also expected to submit original work, use licensed or royalty-free music, obtain permission from people appearing in their content and avoid using Premier League match footage.

Sulphur, another KIU student, said the involvement of a major brand raises the standard expected from participants.

“Coca-Cola is a major brand, and I believe we should give the brand content that reflects that level,” he said.

He added that creators should aim for content that would naturally attract attention on social media and keep viewers watching.

Building Skills Beyond the Competition

For some participants, the challenge is also providing practical experience in areas such as storytelling, editing, communication and digital media.

Brian said creating the videos has helped him improve his storytelling, editing skills and confidence.

Debbie Cox identified content creation, communication, storytelling and digital media as some of the skills she is developing, while fellow KIU participant Monica said the experience is increasing her knowledge of content creation and preparing her for future opportunities.

The campaign has also created opportunities for collaboration among young creatives.

Jade Billz Director, a cinematographer at Makerere University, has been working with a KIU team to produce content. He said the experience has allowed him to work in different environments, meet new people and develop through each project.

The Coca-Cola Uganda EPL Content Creation Challenge is open to Ugandan residents aged 18 and above. Details on participation, reward categories and eligibility are being communicated through Coca-Cola Uganda’s official social media platforms.
