Ugandan singer Kapa Cat has opened up about her personal views on sex and an alternative source of income, revealing that she earns money through paid online companionship as she questions the declining profitability of Uganda’s music industry.

The singer said some people pay to have conversations with her, seeking company when they are bored or wanting to discuss business and other topics. According to Kapa Cat, the arrangement has become a way to earn money without depending entirely on stage performances.

“Some of them want company because they’re bored. And they pay you good money for it,” she said.

Kapa Cat Clarifies Her Position on Sex

Kapa Cat said some people misunderstand paid companionship, assuming that it automatically involves sexual relations. She explained that the service can simply involve conversation and keeping someone company.

However, the singer did not rule out having sex with someone if she personally wanted to, making it clear that such a decision would be hers to make.

“I’ll sleep with whoever I want to, if I want to,” she said.

Her remarks underline the distinction she draws between earning money through online conversations and making personal decisions about intimacy. She did not suggest that every person who pays for her company is entitled to a sexual relationship.

Why Kapa Cat Is Turning to Online Income

Beyond her comments about sex, Kapa Cat questioned whether live music performances still offer artists sufficient financial returns for the work involved.

She argued that musicians are working harder for less money while receiving less respect than they once did. For her, the financial comparison between performing at an event and earning through her phone has become increasingly important.

The singer illustrated her point using a hypothetical booking in Jinja, where she said she could be offered UGX 2 million for a performance while making UGX 2.5 million through online engagements.

“If people in Jinja call me to perform with a cash payment of UGX 2 million but when on my phone I make UGX 2.5 million, why would I go to Jinja?” she questioned.

Kapa Cat said the online income helps her pay bills without having to travel and perform at every opportunity. Her comments offer a glimpse into how she is supplementing her music career while weighing the costs and benefits of live bookings.
