Ugandan artist Son Of Aboda is set to release a new EP on November 10, 2026, as he continues to expand his sound beyond the UG Drill scene and establish himself in the country’s evolving Afro-rap movement.

The release will be followed by an exclusive listening party scheduled for November 27, giving listeners an opportunity to experience the project as the artist enters a new chapter in his musical journey.

Born and raised in Ntinda, Kampala, Son Of Aboda first gained recognition through UG Drill, a local variation of drill music that incorporates Ugandan languages and street influences. He has since broadened his musical direction, blending rap with melodic vocals, Afrobeats rhythms and cultural storytelling.

From UG Drill to Afro-Rap

Son Of Aboda’s evolving sound reflects a move towards a more versatile style, combining sharp rap delivery with soulful melodies and contemporary African production.

His Luo heritage also informs his music, particularly through language and storytelling that connect his artistic identity to his cultural roots. By bringing together local influences and elements of Western hip-hop, he is developing a sound that aims to appeal to audiences beyond Uganda.

The upcoming EP is expected to mark another step in that evolution, although the project’s title, tracklist and featured artists have not yet been provided.

Building His Profile on the Regional Stage

Son Of Aboda has also gained performance experience through appearances at major music events, including opportunities to open for Navio and South African rapper Nasty C.

Known for his energetic stage presence and creative presentation, the artist has been building his profile within East Africa’s music scene while exploring a broader musical identity.

His shift from drill towards Afro-rap places greater emphasis on melody, rhythm and personal expression while retaining the lyrical approach that shaped his earlier sound.

With the November 10 release date approaching, attention will turn to the new project and the November 27 listening party, which will offer a closer look at the direction he is taking his music.
