Two-time champions Makerere University Business School (MUBS) will on Tuesday host St. Lawrence University at Nakawa for the second leg of their Pepsi University Football League semi-final tie..

St. Lawrence edged MUBS 2-1 in the first leg at Kavule Campus on Tuesday last week and will be looking to complete the job and make it to their second consecutive final.

Bunyaga Bruno and Kayongo Michael scored for St. Lawrence as they came from behind to beat MUBS who had been given an early lead by Nazar Benjamin.

Ahead of the game, MUBS' coach Ali Zinda believes that his team still holds a big chance to reach the final having scored an away goal.

“This is a two-legged contest meaning we still have another chance to make amends,” Zinda said before adding.

“We managed to score an important away goal on which we shall build in the second leg and I am optimistic that we are going to finish the job at home,” he added.

On the other hand, St. Lawrence's assistant coach Fred Bakisura also noted that this tie is still far from over given the strength MUBS holds especially at home.

“It is good to have an advantage against such a team, we have on foot in the final but it is not done yet we have to go again on Tuesday.”

“Our main focus remains on winning the title this year and we shall continue playing the same way we did last week and focus so much on putting away the many chances we create.”

The two teams have met thrice previously with MUBS winning twice compared to St. Lawrence's one victory.

St. Lawrence were in the final in 2019 but lost 3-2 to Uganda Christian University in the post-match penalties after the game ended in a 3-3 draw after extra time.

Meanwhile, MUBS will be hoping to make it to the final for the first time since 2017 when they lost 2-0 to Uganda Martyrs University.

The winner between MUBS and St. Lawrence on aggregate will play against former champions Uganda Martyrs in the final on 12th November 2022 at Lugogo after the latter eliminated defending champions UCU 5-4 in the shootouts following a 1-1 draw after two legs in the other semifinal.
