Following the refusal of Kyetume’s appeal against relegation by Uganda’s football governing body FUFA, it has decided the next season will feature only 15 teams.
Through their social media platforms, FUFA made the big announcement to all Uganda soccer lovers and fans.
FUFA posted:
“FUFA has written to Uganda Premier League Secretariat notifying them that only 15 Clubs passed the Club Licensing exercise and should be considered for the fixtures of 2022/2023 season.”
This means clubs will play only 28 matches a season, reducing from 30 played when teams were 16. It also ends all hopes for pardoning Kyetume FC who were relegated following failure to have their playing staff registered.
The 2022/23 season will officially kick off on 30th September, 2020 with the fixtures set to be released next week as per the Uganda Premier League secretariat
