Famed singer Edirisa Musuuza alias 'Eddy Kenzo' has scooped up another nomination and will be tussling it with Tanzanian music power horses Diamond Platinumz and Harmonise among others in the Headies Awards 2022.
The Headies (originally called the Hip Hop World Awards) is a music awards show established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The annual ceremony features performances by established and promising artists.
The 15th Headies Awards nominees list will see Young Mandela competing with other artistes like Meddy (Rwanda), Nikita Kering (Kenya) and Zuchu from Tanzania for the Headie Plaque at a red carpet event that will b going down on 4th September, 2022 at Cobbs Energy Performing Center in Atlanta, USA.
This year, with the Award expanding outside the shores of its home country Nigeria to one of the world’s biggest music capital, Atlanta, USA, it has also expanded its scope of nominations to include more African regions and Artistes.
This has increased the number of Award categories from 26 to 35 categories with 118 nominees in total and 27 of these nominees coming from other parts of Africa like Benin Republic, Tanzania, Rwanda, DR Congo, Cameroon, Carpe Verde, Kenya, Egypt, Tunisia, Morrocco, Algeria, South Africa, Mali, Mozambique, Sao Tome & Principe, Uganda and Ghana.
