Uganda Drawn Against Rwanda in Group A of CECAFA Women’s Championship

The group stages draws of the CECAFA Women Championship have been conducted today May 11th May via zoom and hosts Uganda have been grouped along Rwanda, Burundi and Djibouti in group A.

Uganda will host the eight team tournament from 22nd May to 5th June 2022 at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

The other group (B) has Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Sudan and Ethiopia.

George Lutalo’s side, the Crested Cranes already entered the camp on Saturday and are looking to win the tournament at home, the second to be hosted by Uganda since the first in 2016.

Uganda along with Burundi will use the tournament as a precursor to the 2022 Total Energies Women Africa Cup of nations in July.

The tournament returns after a two years’ recess due to COVID-19 with last time (2019) winners Kenya missing out due to the FIFA ban imposed on them for government interference in the running of the game.
