Veteran journalist Frank Walusimbi officially retired from NTV Uganda after 15 good years, 6 months and 27 days of anchoring news on Thursday.

Like the kiganda saying goes that "even a good dancer has quit the dancing floor," the veteran TV star laid down his media tools on Thursday 28th April, 2022 so as to encounter on a new business journey.

From December 25th, 2006 which was definitely a Christmas Day, the world was shocked with a new branded change of news bulletin "NTV Akawungeezi" where a small and pencil sized man (Frank Walusimbi) in company of the backroom staff salvaged the TV screens to exhibit the Luganda language as he aired the first evening luganda bulletin.

Little did the Serena Hotel based media house know that they were transversing the media with a catchy evening bulletin that every Ugandan craved to watch at exactly 7pm.

Ugandans could abandon whatever they would be doing by 7pm to concentrate on 'NTV Akawungeezi' as Frank Walusimbi and partner in crime, Faridah Nakazibwe told the country the big newsworthy stories that had transpired at a given day.

Having read his last bulletin, it was an emotional moment as Frank Walusimbi in company of fellow NTV employees waved goodbye to the station and its fans on Thursday

“This is the last bulletin I am anchoring. U never know I might be back. Who knows in future, God willing, whether I will make a return? 15 good years, 6 months and 27 days, what a journey! Thank you for standing with me,” Frank Walusimbi noted.

Walusimbi joined NTV Uganda in 2006 when the station was launched in Uganda and anchored his first news bulletin on 25th December 2006.

His calmness, composure, superior Luganda dialect, and presentation on other TV shows including the Tuwaye, Ebigambo Tebitta talk shows among others will forever remain a sight those who watched him will keep in their memories.

Thank you Uncle Frank Walusimbi for the entire media fraternity will dearly miss your services!
