Former Ugandan gospel singer Julie Naluggya Mutesasira says she was forced to leave her motherland Uganda for her own security as a gay woman.

After separating with her husband, Pastor Mutesasira, the 'Nkulembera' singer left to Canada where she wedded her lesbian partner in 2020.

In an exclusive interview with Canada's Got Talent Franchise, Julie Mutesasira has revealed how her life was at risk in Uganda having developed bad manners of chewing fellow women which turns out to be an abomination.

"I decided to leave Uganda caz I came out caz of myself security; being a gay woman in Uganda and married to a Pastor, that's an abomination," revealed Julie Mutesasira.

According to the Penal Code, "Carnal knowledge against the order of nature" between two males or females carries a potential penalty of life imprisonment.
