Nine time Uganda Cup champions SC Villa have won a slot to the quarter finals of tournament after overcoming Onduparaka with a 1:0 win.

Benson Muhindo scored the only match’s goal in the 10th minute in another match that saw the Joggos travel to west Nile having moved to Gulu in the round of 64 when they ejected the Super Eagles.

The win instills more confidence in the league record champions becoming the second in a row in all competitions having won their last match against Wakiso Giants in the Uganda Premier League to get some relief from relegation waves.

In the quarter finals, SC Villa joins Vipers SC, Maroons FC, Mbale Heroes, Bul FC, Wakiso Giants FC, Mbarara city FC and Boma FC. Only four top flight teams made it to the quarter finals with the other four coming from lower tiers.

SC Vipers are the defending champions having beaten Bul FC 8:1 in the last edition last year and are looking for a third title triumph having won their first in 2016 when they beat Onduparaka in the finals at Nakivubo.
