Uganda U17 Girls win the the inaugural COSAFA tournament Unbeaten

After nine days of action, Uganda beat fellow title favorites South Africa 2:1 to win the inaugural trophy unbeaten.

Uganda had their goals through Fauzia Najjemba and Juliet Nalukenge whereas the South Africans scored through Tiffany Kortjie.

Juliet Nalukenge, a daughter to Mr. Kasule Paul a resident of Makata in Kasanda district was the tournaments topscorer with 18 goals. She was also named the player of the match in the final whereas goalkeeper Daphine Nyayenga was named the tournament's best goalkeeper.

Mr. Kasule Paul the father to Nalukenge Juliet is according to Kasanda senior citizen Kirumira Ben the Chairman LC1 and was a great goalkeeper of his time. 

However, the success came at a time when FUFA president Moses Magogo who has been the brain behind women football development in Uganda stepped aside to allow FIFA do investigations on fraud allegations against Him. Justus Mugisha is now the interim FUFA president. 

Route to victory. 

The tournament constituted of two groups with the top two from each group progressing to the semi finals. 

Group stages. 

Uganda 1-1 Zambia

Uganda 11-0 Mauritius.

Comoros 0-20 Uganda, 

Semifinals. 

Uganda 12-0 Botswana.

Finals. 

Uganda 2-1 South Africa.

Uganda scored 47 goals in five matches without a defeat.
