Sabiiti Magembe, a Nation Media Group (NMG) NTV correspondent in Mubende District has died after being knocked by a speeding numberless car.
Magembe was involved in an accident in the morning hours of Thursday as he was heading to work along Mubende-Kampala highway at Namagogo Way Bridge.
According to Ssebatta one of the boda boda men who observed the incident told Blizz Uganda that Ssabiti was riding a motorcycle(Mate) before he was knocked dead from behind by a speeding vehicle.
"The Noah car that knocked him was white in colour with no number plate, side mirrors and it had some window mirrors broken. After knocking him the two people in the car ran away, abandoning the car though later alone we managed to get the driver." Ssebatta narrated.
"Sticks, machetes and sacks full of knives, fresh Cowdung and other metals were found in the car." Narrated the boda boda men who tried to take on mob justice towards the driver.
According to the late's workmates, Ssabiti was in plans for his introduction and then weeding.
"Kitalo nnyo banange. I Had just talked to him 2 days ago and he told me about his Kukyala. Mukama amulamuze kisa,” said John Cliff Wamala.
"He was planning an introduction with his girlfriend, Oh God, we pray that your angels receive him so well. Magembe has not only been a good friend but a brother. We have lost a very hard working man. May Angel’s receive you Sabiiti, till we meet again,” Herbert Kamoga confirmed.
Just three days ago, the journalist posted a beautiful picture of his girlfriend onto his social media platforms and assured his followers that she is the one he decided to marry.
Unfortunately, he won’t be able to fulfill his dream.
