As earlier communicated, FUFA Competitions Committee has only Monday 9th August conducted the semi finals draws of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Ten time Uganda Cup Express FC were pitted against champions Jinja based football club BUL.
Uganda Cup champions of 2016 Vipers SC were drawn against Abdullah Mubiru's coached Police Football Club.
The draws were taken by Uganda's football legend Fred Tamale. Tamale is a former Uganda Cranes player and also a three time Uganda Cup winner with Express FC in 1994, 1995 and 1997.
The matches between the sides will be played on 19th and 31st August,2021.
The matches will be played on a home and away basis and in case of a tie, the away goal’s rule will be used to determine the winner. However, Kitara Region who were to host the tournament finals were stripped off the rights and another host ground will be communicated later.
FUFA President Eng.Moses Magogo was represented by FUFA Deputy CEO in charge of Football Decolas Kiiza who had this to note at the function held at FUFA House, Mengo.
‘I thank the sponsors (Stanbic Bank and Kansai Plascon). We express gratitude for those who have been affected by the pandemic of COVID-19. FUFA made the decision to name URA as the CAF representative to beat the deadline and the only criteria we had was to go with the second placed team in the league. We shall name a new venue for the finals. We thank the President H.E General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for lifting the lockdown to have Football played again after the lockdown.’ Kiizza disclosed.
The matches will be televised live on National TV UBC and sister Television Star TV.
Despite the winner of this year's Uganda Cup tournament, Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club will represent Uganda in the CAF Confederations as already decided by the FUFA executive committee after the Uganda Premier League was ended pre-maturely.
