Rt Hon prime Minister of Uganda, Robinah Nabbanja has revealed that schools across the country are going to re-open in phases as the government designs new plans of combating Coronavirus in the Country.

“The Health and Education Ministries are developing a comprehensive plan for the re-opening of schools in a phased manner” the Prime Minister told the Parliament.

However, she did not reveal the dates when this will this happen. The lockdown is left with fewer days to end, which is building high expectations amongst students. Chances are high that the re-opening will happen after the 42-day lockdown.

The information now makes sense, the Minister of Education – Hon. Janet Museveni’s remarks during the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) where she said that the government is looking into getting medical students back to school.

Last year, schools were similarly re-opened in phases starting with candidates, final year medical students, and final year students in other programmes both at low and high insititution of learning.

Government is still in a dilemma on what to do with classes that are stagant and still in the same classes since last year. Classes like senior one and five will will have two groups, those from the previous year and the ones whose results have just been released.
