In his state of the nation address, President Museveni ordered all sports activities to be halted for 42 which may lead to Express FC being crowned the Uganda Premier League champions for the season 2020/201.
This followed an exponential increase in the COVID-19 cases and deaths in the last 21 days. President Museveni also ordered curfew time to start at 7pm to 5:30 am unlike before when curfew time started at 9pm.
In March 2020, Vipers who were leading the table after 25 matches were crowned Ugandan Premier League champions.
Likewise this season, Express FC are currently leading the table with 58 points from 26 matches and a point above URA with for matches to end the season.
According to the FUFA Competitions Rules Article 18(c), a team leading the table after 25 of their 30 fixtures, 200 out of 240, will be declared champions.
It is in this line that Vipers were crowned Uganda Premier League Champions last season and Express FC who have craved for the league title since 2012 may be crowned champions if this article is enacted.
