Hoping for a first Uganda Premier League title since a decade ago, URA FC's hopes were delt with a blow after succumbing to a 1:0 away loss Kyetume FC on Wednesday 19, May 2021.
URA, who would have taken over table summit from Express FC with a win currently stand second and a point adrift of leaders Express FC who have 55 points.
In the other matches played on the day, UPDF FC played a goalless draw with KCCA FC and Police held SC Villa to a one all stalemate at MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo.
Here we take a look at the remaining five fixtures for the three title contenders ie Express FC, Vipers SC and URA FC.
Express FC matches include Kitara (H), Wakiso Giants (A), (MYDA FC H),BUL (H), KCCA FC (A).
Express FC stand the biggest chances of winning this season's title given their current form, winning all of their last six matches including wins against against Police, Onduparaka and title rivals Vipers SC. A look into their remaining fixtures clearly gives them a better opportunity for a title this season.
URA FC remaining fixtures will see them take on UPDF (H), Busoga (A), Kitara (H), Wakiso Giants (A), (MYDA (H). Of the matches, Wakiso Giants seem the only hard nut for URA to crack but their loss to Kyetume FC will also act a morale boost to their next opponents.
Vipers SC's last matches include on fire Bright Stars (A) Onduparaka (H), BUL (A), Police (A), Kyetume (H).
Bright Stars are the most on form side currently going ten matches without a loss with wins against KCCA FC, Express FC, Mbarara City and also managed a point against URA FC during that run and will possibly torment Vipers title hopes.
Kyetume's encounter with Vipers will also pause threats to the Venoms. The Slaughters are pushing for relagation survival and their win against URA will possibly give them vigour to push for more points and this somehow dents Vipers hopes.
