It has been an interesting evening on Tuesday 18th May,2021 in the Star Times Uganda Premier League as Mbarara City FC visited and beat Vipers SC 3:2.
Nick Named the "Ankole Lions", Mbarara City FC recovered from a 2:0 first half lead by Vipers to win 3:2. Goals from Yunus Ssentamu and Paul Mucureezi in the 16th and 26th minutes handed Vipers a first half lead but Mbarara City rose up in the second half to win it in style.
Solomon Okwalinga opened the scoring for the Mbarara City side in the 56th minute, Bashir Mutanda added a second seven minutes later before Jude Ssemugabi sealed it later for the Lions with five minutes to play.
The win moves Mbarara City FC to 10th position with 32 points and 12 above relegation with five matches left and hopeful of surviving relagation this season.
Vipers SC slipped to third position on 53 points with five matches left and will wait for URA FC's result against against Kyetume on Wednesday 19th May,2021.
At FUFA Technical Center Njeru, Express FC beat home side Busoga United 4:0. A Godfrey Lwesibaawa hatrick inspired Wasswa Bbosa's side to the win with the other goal from Eric Kambale.
Express FC now tops the table with 55 points and are hoping for a first trophy since 2012. URA FC can displace them if they win their match away to Kyetume on Wednesday 19th May,2021.
