In a bid to prepare for the AFCON U-20 tournament in Mauritania, the U-20 Uganda national team management has released it's program for the Mini Tournament.
On Tuesday 2nd February 2021, there will be a Double training Session which includes the Morning Session from 8:00am and the Evening Session at 9:30pm.
The training will take place at the National Stadium complex (outside field). Uganda will play its Mini Tournament Match Day 1 on Wednesday 3rd February 2021 against Tanzania.
The match will be played at Chamanzi Stadium at 7:00pm and will be Live on FUFA fm & Azam TV. Namibia withdrew from the tournament and therefore Uganda will play Tanzania twice.
The 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations will be the 16th edition of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (23nd edition if tournaments without hosts are included), the biennial international youth football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for players aged 20 and below.
Players born 1st January 2001 or later are eligible to participate in the competition.
Eleven teams will compete after Namibia withdrew. They include; Mauritania, Morocco Tunisia,Gambia, Ghana Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Uganda, Tanzania and Mozambique.
The tournament will kick off on 14 February,2021 and will end on 6th March 2021.
This will be the first edition in Africa U-20 Cup of Nations to have expanded to 12 teams instead of eight.[6] The top four teams of the tournament would have normally qualified for the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia as the CAF representatives. However, FIFA decided to cancel the tournament on 24 December 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
