The Government through the Ministry of Health announced it has eased restrictions on mass gatherings, political rallies, cinemas, casinos among others in a bid of easing the massive lockdown Uganda has suffered for months.

While addressing the press on Monday, the Minister of Health, Jane Ruth Aceng, announced Government considerations for a phased lifting of the lockdown.

Aceng noted that Government had reconsidered and allowed mass gathering for churches, political rallies, meetings, and weddings but that they should not exceed 200 persons.

The Government had also considered opening cinemas, gyms, massage parlors, and mobile markets, effective Saturday, November 14, 2020, and that Casinos and gaming outlets may resume operations after fulfilling conditions included in the standard operating procedures.

Casinos, gyms, churches, and schools among others were shut down by Government in March this year to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The Government also shut down public transport among others but there has since been an ease in the restrictions.
