After the return of private vehicles on the road, hundreds of vehicles have been impounded due to failure of reaching home before 7pm curfew time, now the parliament has suggested extension of curfew to 10pm.

Not forgetting the heaeavy traffic jam that hits almost all city roads during evening rush hours, during yesterday’s plenary session, Members of Parliament asked President Museveni to pardon all the people who were arrested saying that they did not deliberately fault the directives.

Kasambya County MP Gaffa Mbwatekamwa said the President should consider extending curfew time from 7 pm to 10 pm as another avenue of continuing to ease the lockdown.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga also noted that she watched on TV, a number of people getting arrested over the curfew and says that unless the government plans to reduce working hours, many Ugandans will continue to be affected.

“I think the Police should try to be considerate and the President will have to look into it. This is something which has to be discussed,” Kadaga said.

Kadaga directed the Parliament taskforce on COVID-19 to look into the matter and make recommendations.
