Celebrated Ugandan singer Spice Diana continues to make waves—not just on the charts but now in the halls of academia.

During the 16th anniversary celebrations of St. Andrew’s College, Sanda, held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, the school made a heartfelt tribute to the music star by naming one of its Senior Five dormitories “Spice Diana Dorm.” The announcement was met with joy and excitement, especially from students who look up to her as a symbol of success and perseverance.

Spice Diana, real name Hajarah Namukwaya, took to social media to share her excitement, calling it a “powerful and humbling moment.” She reflected on how she once admired Ugandan icons with streets and buildings named after them, never imagining her name would one day be immortalized in the same way.

“Growing up, I often saw roads and buildings named after Uganda’s greats, but it never occurred to me that one day, my name could be honored in the same way. At St. Andrew, a school dormitory has been named ‘Spice Diana’ — and to me, that’s no small thing,” she wrote.

The "Kagobako" hitmaker, whose song is currently dominating the airwaves, used the moment to inspire students, encouraging them to chase their dreams unapologetically.

To the students who will sleep in that dormitory, may my name serve as a constant reminder that your dreams are valid and achievable,” she added.

She went on to express heartfelt gratitude to the school’s Directors, Father Lawrence, and the entire management team for the recognition, which she described as “an incredible honour.”
