Former media personality and businesswoman Zuena Kirema, the wife of musician Bebe Cool has spoken out against the harsh criticism often directed at her son, Alpha Ssali, especially regarding his eye condition.
Speaking during her birthday celebrations, Zuena took a moment to address the constant online abuse targeting her children — with a heavy focus on the insensitive comments people make about Alpha’s eyes every time she shares his photo on social media.
“There is a time when I post about my son and they complain about his eye. That boy got in an accident and has been through four eye operations,” Zuena revealed emotionally. “When he sees these things, it hurts him. But there is nothing we can do.”

Alpha, the firstborn son of Zuena and music legend Bebe Cool, suffered a serious accident in his earlier years that affected his eye alignment. The journey to recovery has not been easy, requiring four surgeries and immense emotional support from his family. Zuena expressed deep pain over how some internet users ignore the real-life struggles behind appearances, choosing instead to ridicule.
“Sometimes you read the comments and wonder if these people have an idea about what I’ve been through to get my child where he is,” she said. “If God could turn the tables, I don’t know if they’d survive what we have been through.”
As a mother, Zuena has stood by Alpha through every step of the healing process — from worrying over surgeries to helping him regain his confidence as a teenager. She credited their strong family unity and prayer for keeping them grounded through the storm.
“We would get very worried every time he had surgery. As a family, we prayed together, encouraged him, and talked to him. We’re happy with the progress and thank God for how far we’ve come,” she said.
