Pia Pounds has fired back at veteran entertainment commentator Eddie Sendi following his critique, labeling her as a "bad singer." The remarks came after Pia’s performance at Sheebah Karungi’s concert on October 4, 2024, at Lugogo Cricket Oval, where Sendi bluntly expressed his dissatisfaction on the "Talk and Talk Show" hosted on Kasuku Live’s YouTube channel.

As a member of the event planning team, Sendi didn’t hold back, stating, “Pia Pounds, you are a terrible singer.” He further advised her to invest more in her musical craft instead of prioritizing her appearance, adding, “You put a lot of money into your looks… Please also invest in the craft.”

In response, Pia Pounds took to X (formerly Twitter), addressing Sendi’s critique. While acknowledging the sting of his words, she chose to view it as constructive criticism, writing, “Mzee Sendi, your comment that ‘Nyimba bubi’ really hurt me, but I’ll take it as constructive criticism and work on improving myself as an artist.”

Pia went on to explain that stage performances are often affected by several factors beyond an artist’s talent alone, shedding light on technical challenges such as sound issues and inadequate stage monitors. She highlighted that without proper sound checks, it becomes difficult to hear oneself, leading to vocal strain during live performances. "If you can’t hear yourself, you shout… That song Mzee Sendi talked about ‘Tupaate’ was recorded in a low range, almost in my speaking voice or even lower!"

Despite Sendi’s harsh assessment, Pia remained poised, expressing her determination to improve while offering a broader perspective on what could go wrong during live performances.
