Music duo Hatim and Dokey have announced their split after a five-years working together due to financial challenges whic have led to their decision to go separate ways.
In an exclusive interview, Dokey opened up about the reasons behind the breakup. He revealed that their music was not generating the revenue they had hoped for, despite their hefty investments.
"Music wasn’t returning the same energy we thought we deserved," Dokey confessed. "We were investing everything we earned back into the music and crew expenses, but it just wasn’t enough to sustain us."
The news has taken fans by surprise, especially those who have come to love hits like "Did I Die," "Njabatta," "Kasirise," and "Mbaddewo." While the separation is a blow to their dedicated following, Dokey expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support they’ve received. However, he also hinted that perhaps the support was not quite enough to bridge the financial gap they faced.
The split was initially proposed by Hatim, who was overwhelmed by the ongoing financial strain. Despite this, Dokey had held out hope for an upswing in their fortunes. The parting of ways has been described as amicable, with both artists understanding that this separation might not be permanent.
Dokey hinted at a potential reunion, should they secure the necessary funding for their music. They still have unreleased tracks in the studio, and Dokey is already working on new solo projects. Fans can look forward to fresh music from him soon, while Hatim is also expected to embark on his own solo journey.
