Singer Edirisa Musuuza, famously known as Eddy Kenzo, landed himself a prestigious new role as Senior Presidential Adviser on Creatives as President Yoweri Museveni tapped the "Sitya Loss" hitmaker to represent Uganda’s growing entertainment sector at the highest level of government.

Kenzo's appointment comes at a time when the Ugandan entertainment industry is rallying for major reforms—particularly in the area of copyright law. Artists and creatives have long demanded amendments to the Copyright and Neighboring Rights Act of 2006, hoping to finally reap the rewards of their hard work and protect their artistic creations. With Kenzo at the helm, hopes are high that these changes may finally see the light of day.

As the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), Kenzo already has experience uniting artists and driving positive change. Now, as Senior Presidential Advisor, he’s expected to provide insights to President Museveni on how to improve the livelihoods of creatives across the country. From unlocking opportunities for young artists to ensuring a stable income for industry professionals, Kenzo’s new role is one of significance for Uganda’s entertainment future.

Adding a touch of personal flair to the announcement, Kenzo’s fiancée, Hon. Nyamutoro Phiona, who also serves as Uganda's Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development, celebrated his achievement with a heartfelt social media post. “Congratulations on your well-deserved appointment, Eddy Kenzo. Proud of you always. Thank you, H.E. Kaguta Museveni,” she wrote, cheering him on.

Kenzo joins a distinguished list of fellow artists-turned-advisers, including Bucha Man, Catherine Kusasira, and Full Figure.
