During an emotional press briefing, Ms. Kasuubo Jane, the mother of the late Ugandan music icon Mowzey Radio, pleaded for financial assistance to save her son's burial site. She needs UGX 350 million to secure the land where Mowzey Radio was laid to rest in Kagga in 2018.
Ms. Kasuubo revealed that she does not own the land where her son is buried. Currently, access to the burial site requires crossing privately owned property. The landowner has agreed to sell the land for UGX 350 million, a sum Ms. Kasuubo cannot afford on her own.
In her plea, she reached out to Eddy Kenzo, the president of the Uganda National Musician Federation (UNMF), who had expressed willingness to help but required certain administrative documents. Unfortunately, despite Kenzo's initial contact, she has not heard back from him in over a year.
“The only think I need the most right now is to secure access to my son's grave. the Land we use to access it does not belong to us and the owner agreed to sell but needs 350Million”- she stated.
Ms. Kasuubo is now turning to the public and well-wishers for support. She hopes to raise the necessary funds to preserve her son's resting place and maintain access for fans and loved ones to pay their respects.
