Heartbreaking news through confirms how Diana Museveni Kyaremera, the daughter of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, officially confirmed the dissolution of her nearly two-decade-long marriage with businessman Geoffrey Kamuntu. She has shared their divorce papers and shocking reasons why.

While the couple had endeavored to keep their private matters under wraps, Kyaremera felt compelled to address the public to shed light on the situation, particularly for the sake of her children.

"I have tried to keep my divorce private and out of the public sphere for the sake of my children," Kyaremera revealed in a statement.

Alongside her announcement, she presented the "Decree Nisi," a legal document confirming the termination of her marriage, which was issued in 2022.

Navigating the complexities of divorce, Kyaremera emphasized the emotional toll it takes, especially when children are involved. Despite the challenges, she appealed to the public for support during this trying time.

"I ask that the public continues to pray for my family as we move forward from this difficult time and that you will respect our privacy," she stated.

In 2022, Diana took steps to officially change her name, applying to the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) to drop the use of her husband's surname, "Kamuntu." She expressed her preference to be known as Diana Museveni Kyaremera.

As the youngest child of President Museveni, Diana serves as the managing director of Museveni family enterprises, overseeing all private ventures of the first family. Her marriage to Kamuntu, which began on July 24, 2004, resulted in three children—two boys and one girl.

In a previous interview, Diana shared the story of how she met Kamuntu at her sister Natasha Karugire's home, instantly drawn to his tall and handsome demeanor. Besides her corporate responsibilities, Diana has also dabbled in acting, notably portraying the First Lady in the Ugandan film "27 Guns," directed by her sister Natasha Karugire.

Kamuntu, on the other hand, owns a procurement firm specializing in consultancy services for oil exploration companies in the Albertine region, with alleged interests in the Heritage Oil Company.

The dissolution of this prominent union marks a significant development in the personal life of President Museveni's family, prompting both empathy and curiosity from the public.
