The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has finally released the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results, showcasing a notable decline in exam malpractice. This took place on Thursday at the State Lodge in Nakasero, where the Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, presided over the much-anticipated event.
With bated breath, 349,459 candidates who undertook the UCE exams last year received their academic fate, a momentous occasion marked by UNEB Executive Director Mr. Dan Odongo. In a delightful twist, Mr. Odongo highlighted a commendable performance by the female candidates, who outshone their male counterparts in the intricate realm of English language.
Mr. Odongo, beaming with pride, shared insights into the perennial trend of gender-based disparities in subject performances. "Female candidates exhibited superior performance in English, while in other subjects, males demonstrated prowess, particularly in History, Geography, Sciences, and Commerce. Chemistry, however, witnessed male candidates excelling in higher grades, although overall, a slightly higher percentage of females secured at least a Pass. This intriguing trend has been a constant over the years," he revealed.
