Comedian Maulana Kasozi, the one half of the comic duo Maulana and Reign has been arrested by the Police on allegations of neglecting his family as Nalugya Shubira Betty, the mother of his three children claims.
Betty went to Police claiming that the comedian has been a bit of a slacker on the home front for the past nine months.
According to Nalugya, when Maulana does make an appearance at home, he tends to prioritize certain activities over parental responsibilities.
Allegedly, Maulana's visits involve engagement in intimate activities, followed by a somewhat stingy contribution of Ugx 10 or 5K towards child care. Matters take a complicated turn when Maulana insists on taking custody of the kids, a proposal promptly declined by Nalugya, citing the tender age of the little ones.
The family court at Mwanga II becomes the stage for this domestic comedy, with a final decision ordering Maulana to cough up Ugx 15K daily for child care and pitch in for their rent. The initially compliant comedian fulfilled the rent duties for three months, covering June, July, and August of the previous year, only to hit pause on this familial financial obligation.
Unfortunately, Nalugya finds herself unable to meet the financial demands, especially with her children on the brink of returning to school. The plot thickens as Maulana allegedly goes into hiding, prompting the court to issue an arrest warrant for the elusive comedian.
Attempting to counter the narrative, Maulana Kasozi takes to social media, painting a vivid picture of his ex-spouse battling mental demons. He claims she even attempted to poison them, asserting his inability to sustain a relationship under such conditions.
