Ugandan sports enthusiasts are celebrating the remarkable legacy left behind by the late Ibrahim Mukalazi Buwembo. A former Uganda Cranes Ex International, Coffee SC, and Express FC flying left-wing, who had been battling a long-term illness, he passed away on Friday 29th Dec. at Mengo Hospital.

Ibrahim Buwembo, a maestro on the soccer field, etched his name in the annals of Ugandan football history with a glittering career that saw him triumphantly lift the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup with the Uganda Cranes in 1992.

Known for his lightning-quick sprints and deft ball control, Buwembo was a fan favorite whose contributions to the sport resonated far beyond the pitch.

Transitioning seamlessly from player to sports pundit, Buwembo lent his voice to the airwaves, becoming a beacon of insightful commentary.

Often outspoken, he fearlessly criticized the Federation of Ugandan Football Associations (FUFA), highlighting his unwavering commitment to the beautiful game. His critiques, though candid, were rooted in a deep-seated passion for the sport's well-being.

While mourning the loss of a sporting icon, fans and fellow athletes alike are flooding social media with anecdotes and tributes, recalling Buwembo's infectious charisma and undying love for the sport.

The outpouring of emotion is a testament to the enduring impact he had on the hearts of many.
