Renowned city businessman Hajji Sulaiman Kabangala Mbuga, popularly known as SK Mbuga, has taken the reins in an inspiring fundraising campaign to support Linda Ainembabazi, a 15-year-old aspiring news anchor battling stage 3 Fibrosarcoma.
The journey began in September when Linda, initially diagnosed with Leukemia, captured the hearts of the public in a desperate plea for a bone marrow transplant. NTV Uganda's Sudhir Byaruhanga took to Twitter, calling for a helping hand, stating, "Her dream is to become an anchor."
However, fate took an unexpected turn when Linda, upon reaching India for treatment, received a devastating diagnosis of stage 3 Cancer, specifically Fibrosarcoma, necessitating urgent medical attention.
Undeterred, Linda's family, facing financial challenges, reached out to the compassionate SK Mbuga, who readily accepted the responsibility of leading a charity campaign to alleviate the financial burden of medical bills.
Joined by fellow fundraisers, including the generous Frank Mwesigye, the campaign spearheaded by SK Mbuga successfully raised over Shs53m, providing a lifeline for Ainembabazi's crucial medical treatment.
In a heartfelt video message, Linda expressed her gratitude, saying, "Hi everyone, it's me Linda Ainembabazi again. I want to thank you for the contribution made towards my treatment." She revealed the positive news that, despite the initial misdiagnosis, doctors were optimistic about her chances of overcoming Fibrosarcoma stage 3.
SK Mbuga, not resting on the laurels of their success, continues to urge more people to join the ongoing fundraising campaign. As Linda courageously battles her silent adversary, the community rallies around her, demonstrating the power of collective support.
