The Catholic Church in Uganda, is mourning the untimely death of Rev. Fr. Dr. Lawrence Yawe Mudduse who has been serving as a priest at Kiyinda Mityana and as a liturgy professor at St. Paul's National Major Seminary Kinyamatsika in Fort Portal.
The tragic incident occurred as the clergyman was returning from a commemorative celebration in Mityana, en route to Fort Portal. The vehicle, a Suzuki with registration number UAW 369C, was found in a severely mangled state, as captured in images from the accident scene.
As of Monday morning, law enforcement authorities were yet to provide official comments on the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The news of Fr. Mudduse's passing reverberated across social media platforms, with an outpouring of condolences from friends, colleagues, and parishioners. Teddy Namirembe shared her disbelief, posting, “RIP Fr. Lawrence Yawe Mudduse, our brother!!! It's hard to believe that you have gone!!”
Joseph Ssendawula, reflecting on the priest's 23 years of dedicated service, wrote, “In all, he has served the Lord with zeal, selflessness, and valour. He's stood up to injustice, preached the gospel to the fullest, and relished priesthood. May the Angels receive you! RIP Rev. Fr. Lawrence Yawe Mudduse.”
