Recently sentenced to Prison for 3 years for brutally beating up Pretty Nicole, Queen Kafta has now been released from Luzira Prison after being jailed for only 5 Months, his lawyers pleaded and now she is out.
The High Court in Kampala has set aside the conviction and sentence, issuing orders for the immediate release of Pretty Nicole's Tanzanian tormentor Kafta Queen, unless she is being held over other lawful charges.
Trinity College Nabweru student Kafta Queen had on January 31 been sentenced to three years in jail by Kira Court Chief Magistrate Roseline Nsenge after she pleaded guilty to aggravated torture.
But Kafta appealed against the sentence reasoning that the trial magistrate erred in law and fact when she convicted her without due legal representation, leading to a miscarriage of justice- and that it was inconsiderate and harsh.
On Friday 21st July 2023, Hon. Lady Justice Margaret Mutonyi of the Kampala High Court passed a final verdict nullifying the Kira Court Chief Magistrate Roseline Nsenge’s judgement citing that whereas the appellant pleaded guilty, to the charge, there was no need for the prosecution to summon witness to prove any charges against her.
