The two sides to compete in the 2022 Masaza cup finals have been known after the competition of the second legs of the semifinals.

At Kasana-Luweero, Bulemeezi won 2:1 against Buddu but bowed out of the tournament on a 2:2 aggregate score following a 1:0 loss to the reigning champions in the first leg played at Masaka Recreation Ground a week ago.

Emayo Calvin scored a brace for the 2019 Masaza Cup champions which increased their hopes for a final but Buddu’s consolation through Dennis Kalanzi sealed a finals berth for the defending champions.

At Ssentema Saza ground in Wakiso, Busiro beat two time champions Ssingo 1:0. Akram Muzanyi Shafic scored the much needed goal for Busiro to send the home fans into wild celebrations.

Busiro who lost 1:0 to Bulemeezi in 2019 are back in the finals in a bid to win their maiden trophy. The Paul Nsubuga funded side have been the most outstanding side in this tournament having managed 25 points in the group stages, a feat no other side of the 18 counties managed.

In the quarter finals they ejected record champions Gomba (5) beating them home and away before overcoming Ssingo in the semi finals, their performance through the tournament points to them as a side to fancy most for this year’s tournament.

The fact that no side has ever defended the Masaza Cup title has some point to prove why Busiro stand a chance this time round.

With Buddu back in the tournament’s finals, they stand a chance of defending the title, a feat that has not been attained by any side in the tournament’s history.
