Saturday 15th October 2022 will remain in the history of Vipers SC as the day when they qualified for their first ever group stages of the CAF Champions League.

The Lawrence Mulindwa owned side beat TP Mazembe 4:2 in penalty shootouts following a goalless stalemate in normal time.

The barren stalemate in normal time meant the tie was tied at a scoreless aggregate score and hence headed for the penalty shootouts which the “Venoms” won 4:2 to make history.

Vipers who are the Uganda Premier League reigning champions and also five time winners therefore join KCCA FC as the only two sides from Uganda to have featured in the CAF Champions Group stages with the latter making the feat in 2018.

Vipers SC are now assured of at least US$550,000 in prize money which goes to team that finishes at the bottom of the group.
