Hon Peace Mutuuzo, the State Minister for Gender and Culture in the Ugandan cabinet says she is finalizing preparations of the elections of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) body.
The development follows recent pressure from a section of musicians demanding for a report in regards to the progress of the UMA body currently under the old stewardship of singer Cindy Sanyu.
It must be remembered that elections that were slated to take place three months ago at National Theatre were postponed by the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development to a yet to be communicated date.
During an exclusive interview, Hon Peace Mutuuzo has revealed they are currently registering all musicians countrywide including the upcoming so as to get a chance of electing an official leader of their choice.
Mutuuzo says as her ministry strategies how to get funds that will facilitate the next UMA elections, artistes will have to wait for an official voting date that will be soon communicated.
