The group stages of the 2022 Masaza Cup tournament finally reached a conclusion on Sunday 4th September, with eight teams qualifying for quarter finals.
Two time champions Ssingo advanced through Masengere as group leafs with 20 points after winning six matches, drawing and losing two of the the group matches. They are joined by the other two champions Buddu, who finished second on 17 points following five wins, two draws and three losses.
In Bulange, last edition’s losing finalists Buwekula advanced to quarter finals as group leaders with 22 points. The Mubende based team won seven matches, drew one and lost two to finish ahead of second placed and record winners (5) Gomba. Gomba finished with 21 points with six wins, three draws and one loss.
Busiro who lost 1:0 to Bulemeezi in 2019 Masaza cup finals topped Muganzirwazza group with the most points of any team this campaign (25). The side won eight matches, drew and won one to make the tally. Bulemeezi finished second in the group with 19 points following 6 wins, one draw and a loss.
Mawokota and Kyaggwe joined up in the quarter finals after they finished as the two best third placed teams. Mawokota in Bulange group finished third with 18 points from 5 wins, 3 draws and and two losses whereas Kyaggwe were third in Muganzirwazza group with 16 points.
The quarter finals will therefore have group winners Ssingo (Masengere), Buwekula (Bulange) Busiro (Muganzirwazza), runners up Buddu (Masengere), Gomba (Bulange), Bulemeezi (Muganzirwazza) and best losers Mawokota (Masengere) and Kyaggwe (Bulange). The draws will later be communicated later by the organizing committee.
