Uganda Cranes have qualified for the sixth Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament after edging Tanzania 3:0.
Moses Waiswa scored from the spot in the 16th minute to give the Cranes lead after Mato Rogers was fouled in the forbidden area. Richard Basangwa (54) and Mato Rogers scored the other two goals to ensure Uganda Cranes advances to the CHAN finals.
Uganda therefore qualifies on a 4:0 aggregate score following a 1:0 away win in Tanzania a week ago.
The 2022 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship will be the 7th edition of its kind and will take place in Algeria between 8th and 31st January 2023.
The tournament was originally scheduled to take place from 10th July to 1st August 2022 but due to COVID-19, CAF rescheduled the tournament to January 2023 following an announcement at an executive committee meeting held on 10 September 2020.
