Who is Yiga Najib? The Proven Young Talent Playing for Vipers SC

Exceptional talents need exceptional attention paid to them and today we bring to you a young but already fully baked talent in Yiga Najib who plays for five time Uganda Premier League champions, SC Vipers.

Yiga Najib is a 20 year old footballer plying his trade for Uganda Premier League reigning champions Vipers SC. Despite his tender age, the forward is already made and ready for any football challenge.

Born to a humble background on 18th/12/2002 in the suburbs of Kisekende-Mubende Municipality, Najib has played at all levels of football in Uganda except for the senior national football team, which he also considers very imminent.

Born to late Yiga Abdullah and Nakate Annet (living), Yiga Najib grew playing simple football in Mubende town but his career was lighted up in 2018 when he made a switch to Kisozi seed in Gomba district before making a move to St. Mary’s Kitende where he has attained most of his success.

The switch to the two sides helped him grow into a great player and thus was called to feature for Buwekula (in Mubende) in Masaza Cup tournament of 2018 and 2019 where he impressed.

His school football tenure has seen him win the National Post Primary (NPP) competitions in 2019 and 2022 at St Mary’s Kitende before winning the East Africa schools competition in 2019 still at Kitende.

His club career has seen him win the 2021/2022 Uganda Premier League title and also the Uganda Cup in the 2021.

His success is not limited to anything as he has also achieved at the national level , winning the U17 AFCON qualifiers for CECAFA region in 2019 and the U20 Afcon Qualifiers still for CECAFA region the following year.

His pace, trickery and scoring abilities have all been likened to former Uganda Cranes forward Andrew “Fimbo” Mukasa and for this reason, the player has of late till now been referred to as Yiga “Fimbo” Najib.
