Following rounds of rumors that FUFA boss Eng.Moses Magogo and the speaker of Parliament of Uganda Annet Among share the same bedroom, the rumors got to an end in the weekend when the two made it official with a colorful but secret “Kukyala” ceremony at the home of Annet Anita Among (AAA) in Bukedea.
The position of a speaker is a very important one as regards robbing for any institution and Magogo has always pointed at the need by football to get more close to government so as it gets more funding from it. It is on this note therefore that we’re optimistic of positives from this close relationship of the two that it can’t leave football the same.
Magogo has since his appointment to the big football office greatly impacted Uganda’s football, improving FUFA’s budget from 4bUgx by the time of his entry to office in 2013 to currently 40bUgx, what an impact!
The biggest portion of money FUFA takes on what the National Council of Sports (NCS) receives from the government is also attributed to the good and close relationship the Budiope East Mp had with former state minister for sports Hamson Obua.
Magogo’s close relationship with other people of influence has greatly benefited Ugandan football. It should be noted that in 2017, Confederation of African Football announced that the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group L qualifier between Uganda and Cape Verde had been postponed on request of Moses Magogo after the Cranes got stranded in Dakar and failed to take off en route to Praia where the match was meant to be played. This was also attributed to Magogo’s close relationship with the then CAF president Ahmed Ahmed.
It is on this note therefore that we conclude that Magogo’s intimate relationship with the speaker of Parliament of Uganda and also woman MP for Bukedea draws him more nearer to government and will reap more fruits for Uganda football.
