Nineteen time English top league winners Liverpool announced a new long term contract for Portuguese forward Diogo Jota. On signing the long time contract, this the Portuguese said to the club media.
"Well, [I’m] really proud, I have to say,” he told Liverpoolfc .com after signing his new contract.
Obviously since I arrived two years ago I established myself as an important player in this team – that’s what I wanted from the beginning.
“Now, signing a new long-term deal, it’s obviously from the club’s perspective proof of the belief in myself as a player. For me, obviously it’s really good to establish I’ll be here for a while."
Jota arrived at Anfield in September 2020 and his impact was immediately felt when he scored his first goal in the debut match against Arsenal at Anfield. His debut season saw him score 12 goals not forgetting the famous hat-trick Against Atlanta in champions league.
Jota was influential in Liverpool’s last season as he helped them to win Carabao Cup and FA Cup with his 21 goals across all seasons plus finishing runners up in the champions league.
He’s currently nursing an injury sustained at the national team and can’t wait to heal and get started for the next Premier League season scheduled to kick of on Friday 5th August,2022.
