It was joy and smiles amongst Buwekula Saza team supporters after the side came out victorious on the petition filed by Mawokota who accused last tournament’s runners up of fielding an ineligible player.

Mawokota accused Buwekula of fielding goalkeeper Kamya shamulan who they said he once featured to Uganda Premier League outfits Bright Stars FC.

However, the Masaza committee found no enough evidence to convict Buwekula and hence Buwekula emerged victors in the case. Kamya once played as a goalkeeper at Bright Stars but with a juniors’ license and thus could not be tied for Masaza tournament as it was not a Uganda Premier League licensing.

Buwekula visited and beat Mawokota 1:0 a week ago in what was Buwekula’s second win in as many matches following a 1:0 victory against Gomba in their opener.

Despite playing a match less following the postponement of their third match against Kooki, Buwekula remain at the table summit of group B with six points whereas Butambala are second on five points with Gomba and Mawokota who are tied on 4 points standing 3rd and 4th respectively. Kooki are fifth and Kabula stand at the table bottom.

Buwekula who are looking for their maiden Masaza Cup title having lost twice on finals (2012 to Bulemeezi and 2022 to Buddu) will take on Kabula on Sunday at Kasenyi play ground in Mubende Municipality.
