Felix Kulayigye reappointed UPDF Spokesperson

Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye has been appointed the substantive spokesperson of Uganda Peoples Defense Forces – UPDF by Chief of Defense Forces General Wilson Mbadi.

According to the statement released by the acting UPDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Ronald K Kakurungu, Kulayigye’s appointment takes with immediate effect.

He replaces Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso who handed over the office 2 weeks back as she headed for a one year course training at the National Defense College in Jinja.

Kulayigye was first appointed the deputy UPDF spokesperson in early 2005 taking over as the full Spokesperson in November that year. He served as the spokesperson of the force for 8 years from 2005 – 2013.

Having joined army in 1989 after graduating with Degree in Education from Makerere University, Kulaigye has grown through ranks, serving in various offices including being in Presidential Protectorate Unit, serving as aide de camp to then Col. Kahinda Otafiire, UPDF Chief Political Commissar and serving as a Member of Parliament representing UPDF 2016-2021.
